Redbridge CID Sports and Social Club raise £2,000 for the Trust

The Redbridge Police CID sports and social club held their Charity Christmas Party on the 7th December 2005 at the ‘Shout Bar’ Clements Road, Ilford. Frank Fletcher collected the cheque onbehalf of the Trust last week. The event was very successful and £2,000 was raised for the Trust. Ilford Police station has close links with the Trust as Redbridge Police Sergeant Karl Greenaway’s daughter, Emma aged 14 years is suffering from Leukaemia.  She has been sailing with the trust on several occasions who are now sponsoring Emma to undertake her RYA qualifications. Emma says “ It was a brilliant opportunity, because of my experiences I have caught the sailing bug. It has really helped me put my illness out of my mind”

The club secretary, Detective Constable Justin Rowley is a passionate yachtsman and is skippering a yacht in the Round Britain & Ireland Race being run by the Royal Western Yacht Club which starts from Plymouth in June. He is hoping to use the race as a platform to raise further funds for the ‘Ellen MacArthur Trust’.
DCI Gary Fermor who’s enthusiasm and support made the event such a success, DC Justin Rowley and Club treasurer DC John Grocock wish to pass on their thanks to all the local companies that supported the event
