Dan Monk starts his Yachtmaster course at UKSA and a regular blog on this site

Dan Monk first came sailing with the trust in 2003, he simply loved it. In 2005 Dan returned to join the Ellen MacArthur Trust crew in the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. A week before the race Dan was informed that his Cancer had returned, undeterred Dan took part in the race 2 days before starting treatment. During his treatment Dan found the time and strength to help us film our promotional video.

Dan vowed to return and compete in the race in 2006, we were delighted that Dan was part of the crew on Scarlet Oyster in 2006 that completed the course.
Dan then assisted in running a number of the trips over the summer, before undertaking a number of yacht deliveries and building some solid sailing experiance. Dan has shown a great interest in sailing as a career and the trust are delighted to be supporting him in his endeavours to gain his Yachtmaster qualification. In August 2006 Dan spoke about his experiances of Cancer in front of 385 people at The Ellen MacArthur Trust Ball @ Skandia week.

In January Dan Monk will start his Yachtmaster training at The United Kingdom Sailing Academy, before assisting in running the trips this summer you can follow his blog here.
