Young People from Wales, Northern Ireland and Birmingham join the second trip

The Ellen MacArthur Trust embarked on their biggest sailing trip to date this week, as they took seventeen children out sailing from their operational base at UKSA (United Kingdom Sailing Academy) in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Ellen MacArthur Trust 2007 Sailing Trips Underway

The first of four sailing trips scheduled for this year by the Ellen MacArthur Trust (EMT), went ahead last week with children from all over the UK taking charge of three boats in and around the Solent waters. The three boats Scarlet Oyster (kindly donated for use by her owner), Blue Velvet and eVent chartered for the trips, took fourteen children either currently still suffering from, or in recovery from cancer and leukaemia sailing. The trips are designed to provide a unique experience for the children that join them.

First four day Yacht Trip of the summer underway

It has been a busy year already for the trust with a Gipsy Moth Trip over Easter and The JP Morgan Round the Island Race ten days ago.
Today the first four day yacht trip of the summer got underway with 15 young people from UCLH in London and CLIC Sargents groups from Scotland and Bristol and the South West arriving in Cowes. Today was spent taking part in team building exercises before getting to know the yachts and cooking dinner.
